Eastern Shore Dance Studio offers a wide variety of dance styles to allow our students to be well-rounded dancers. In our Acrobatics classes, students will learn how to do various Acro tricks, including back handsprings, front and back walk-overs, and more. These tricks are great skills to include in your next dance routine!
Ballet is a classical form of dance which focuses on body alignment and technique. Barre, center floor, and progressions (movement across the floor) are used to develop technique.
Hip Hop is a relaxed freestyle form of dance, which uses your own personal rhythm and current dance moves. Our Hip Hop program is a high energy, upbeat dance class that will teach your dancer about the ideas behind Hip Hop dance and style while using current music selections that are age appropriate. Placement is based on skill level.
Jazz is an energetic style of dance, which uses Ballet technique combined with current styles of dance. The class is upbeat and uses current music.
Our Jumps, Tricks & Turns class was designed as a supplemental class for students who excel in their regular classes. Students work on perfecting harder turns, leaps, and other dance tricks that are not taught in our regular classes.
Modern/Contemporary dance is a dance style that centers on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional Ballet dancing. Taking Ballet in addition to Modern/Contemporary is highly encouraged. Students who do not take Ballet class may be used separately in dances, as their skill level will not be as high as students with Ballet training.
Musical Theatre is a form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue and dance. The emotional content of the piece – humor, pathos, love, anger – and story itself, are communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.
Tap is a rhythmic style of dance, characterized by tap shoes striking the floor. The shoes have metal "taps" on the heel and toe and are used to make percussive sounds on hard floors. Tap is a very popular style of dance and great for coordination and developing rhythm.
